What is Theatre Production Ensemble?

It is an auditioned group of driven theatre students - all juniors and seniors - who are planning on studying theatre in college or want to study theatre at the highest level.

The Curriculum starts with an acting textbook, and the subsequent scene and monologue work explores and practices that technique in detail.

The monologue unit requires a Shakespeare verse piece, two Contemporary pieces, and an Against Type piece.

In November these students work on their pieces for Auditions and Individual Events at the Colorado Thespian Conference.

The second semester has three significant (sometimes rotating) projects.  The Ensemble builds Shakespeare or Period Scenes to present to area middle and elementary schools.  Often, the class hunkers down and studies a play together - looking for connections to our lives and the world that we live in.  We also often collaborate with an area elementary school to teach and model theatre and theatre making.  It's a BLAST!

Finally comes one of the most anticipated projects of the year - Ensemble Musicals!  These original musicals, using lip synced popular music, are irreverent, adorable, and completely amazing and fun!  The performance is on May 15 (the Senior's last day at Mountain Vista) and are free.
